Bright light, unobtrusive design

I bought two of these lights, one for my mother's Kindle and Go! Jacket, and one for mine and the Executive Jacket. The light itself is great: very easy to use, three levels of illumination, and unlike the ones that clip or clamp on, it has an unobtrusive design and there's no worry about where to store it -- it just folds down & out of the way when you're done using it. The lowest level of illumination I find good to increase the contrast of the text when the ambient light isn't very bright. In a dark room, I sometimes use the middle level, but more often the brightest one. The arm makes adjusting the light very easy. One thing to bear in mind: in the jackets in which the sleeve for the light is on the left-hand, spine side of the reader, the light folds away neatly and is protected when you're not reading. My Executive jacket has the sleeve on the left-hand side, and I love it. I can also keep it folded away when I'm reading in good light and it doesn't interfere with using the right-hand page-turn buttons (I'm right-handed). On the other hand, my mother's Go! jacket has the sleeve on the right, and this seems to be the new design for the jackets. In this case, you need to be aware that the light is not at all protected when you're not reading and you may want to carry the Kindle in your purse or other bag. It also gets in the way of using the right-hand page turn buttons if you want to read with it off and folded down. I've found that I have to have it up even when I'm not using it because otherwise, it makes the ereader difficult to hold and interferes with the page-turn buttons. It also makes it easy to accidentally turn on the light, which I hadn't found to be the case when using my Executive jacket. If you plan to carry your Kindle in a purse, briefcase, or other bag, or if you're right-handed and will often be reading without using the light, I recommend buying a case in which the light folds away into the spine. It's a superior design, in my opinion. The light is great, though, so I'm giving it five stars. (I also reviewed the Go! jacket and mentioned the problem with the design there.)

The light does not fit well with an m edge case for the Kindle Touch. It sits on the outside edge and the light extends beyond the lower border of the case. The strap which tucks into the case does not fully slide in with the bulk of the battery from the light.

Great light, but too big

I just purchased the new Kindle Touch and a cover and new light for it. I was suprised to see that they have not come out with a smaller light for the new Kindle Touch. It hangs down below the case when inserted, and I'm concerned that the light will go on when I'm travelling with it. Since the new Kindle is smaller than the 3rd version, I'd like to see a smaller light that fits better. Other than that, the light is terrific--3 brightness choices are great!

Great Product But...

I love this product! The fact that it fits into the jacket so neatly and is fairly unobtrusive is wonderful. However, the "Improvements" are not so great. I find the touch far too sensitive and the "auto shut off" extremely annoying. I typically read for more than an hour at a time and find the blinking after an hour to be intrusive and annoying. I understand that this is to prevent battery drain but I wish I had the option to shut it off. All in all, I prefer the previous model with the switch but unfortunately that is no longer available.

Could be Better

I keep my booklight in my custom M Edge Kindle case. I love the intensity of the light. However, the tap controls are so sensitive I find that the light is on when I don't expect it to be. This runs the battery down. I would prefer a hard switch to turn my light on and off.

Excellent light!

I bought the original e-luminator light by m-edge at Best Buy the night before my last surgery. Great light! I noticed that they have a newer version that's a bit different With neuropathy in my hands, I was having trouble with the little switch. Plus, I'd fall asleep with it on and use up batteries. I ordered the new one from m-edge for $19.99 and free shipping (just took a while to get here). It came yesterday. The touch feature to turn it on and adjust three brightness levels is super easy. It flashes at you after an hour so to keep it on all I had to do was tap the control switch to keep it on. The "goose neck" is a little shorter, but best of all it has a swivel at the base. I've always put the "paddle" at the top between the cover and my nook. It sits far enough back that it doesn't cover the nook button. Still just uses one AAA battery. I highly recommend it for the e-ink screens, but especially for anyone with arthritis

Great Kindle Light

Overall, this is a great kindle light. It fits well in the jackets and lights the screen well. It is bright enough and has an optional brighter setting. It's not perfect though. The touch button is so sensitive that it is easy to bump it while stored and turn it on. I remove the battery to solve that problem. In addition, while the neck is flexible, it doesn't always stay where we want it. This is more a problem with my husband's e-luminator than mine. We have different colors, but it shouldn't make a difference. We both use it with a Latitude jacket. The issues are not enough for us to not rec the product, but some people might find them more annoying than we do.

Great Light!

My daughter got this for Christmas and it fits perfectly in her m-edge case for the nook simple touch. The light provides ample output for reading without any glare. The auto off is nice too, especially since turning off lights is not tops on a kid's list of things to do. LOL You can't go wrong with this light!

Great Idea

This light works great with my Kindle and alot less than buying a new cover with a light.

e-Luminator Touch Book LIght ...Awesome

I received and have been using the e-Luminator Touch Booklight. The light is brighter than the previous booklight I had. (not an e-luminator) I am very happy with the book light and would certainly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a really good book light. Even better it fits nicely in my M-Edge Cover but it can also be used with regular books or magazines as well.

Wanted a Great Light - Got a Good Light

Love that the light fits into the M-Edge cover and it doesn't add a lot of weight. I also like that there are 3 intensities. The light covers then entire screen which is an improvement over their older model. However, the touch-activated power is too sensitive and turns on too easily in my bag, which wastes batteries. Also, on occasion, the light starts blinking rapidly. I have to hit the power switch to bring it back to a constant light.

Fabulous Light

Great light for readign my Sony WiFi when a bit of light needed. I purchased the Exective Jacket and decided to return and invest in the eLuminator light after reading the reviews posted here. Have no regrets it's a perfect light.

I wish there was a way to safely fold this into the cover, or safely fold it into itself. I don't know how to travel with it, wihtout worrying that I'll break the bulb or that it will turn itself on and waste the battery.

Great Little Light!!

Small and compact, the dimmer is switch with 3 light setting is great. The dimmer must operate off heat: I have tried turning it on with pencils, etc., and it must respond to body like a regular touch lamp. The lamp neck tends to be less stiff than desired, but on such a small scaled that it would not be noticed by most. Will recommend to anyone, and may even buy more as gifts.

Wow! A single battery, lightweight reading light for a Kindle (or Nook) cover... with multiple position adjustments courtesy of the ratcheting battery case and a flexible light stalk... and on top of it all, the light adjusts to three different intensities, low, medium, and bright. What more can you ask for in an e-reader light?

After purchasing the newest M-Edge, I contacted Customer Service and told them I like the original better. They said they would be glad to exchange this one for the older version as there were some in stock that weren’t on the web page. I was so pleased with the service, that I decided to give the newer one a try. I first thought it wouldn’t change positions so that there was no bend in the hard end, but I figured out that it does and now it does everything I want it to do. I’m very pleased with this version and glad I decided to keep it. I would definitely recommend this item to any electronic book users.

Touch booklite

I like it okay but find that it turns on too easily. Sometimes I discover the light on when I lift the Kindle case out of my book bag. Agree with some other comments that the low light setting is too low to give any help at all.

I was the author of the review entitled "Dead, Dead, Dead" on the illuminator 2. I feel compelled to say things are copacetic now. They shipped a second illuminator #2, defective. i sent it back, and they asked if i could wait another week for an improved device. Of course, (they sent me a prepaid shipping label for the defective one also). Now having the #3 in my kindle, i must say it is a great improvement, can use with real paper books, 3 intensities, and a much improved battery setup (which i always thought was the problem). Voila!! Perhaps the best customer service i have encountered in the last few years, i am totally impressed. thank you m-edge.

Unsatisfactory.

This book light was terrible. For starters, it didn't even fit well in the M-Edge Kindle cover for which it was designed. It was difficult to position and angle the light so that it illuminated the entire Kindle reading surface, so you had to constantly adjust it. The light (despite having three brightness settings) was too dim, and it burned out a fresh battery after only a few hours of use. The battery case was extremely difficult to remove and replace. This is probably the most poorly conceived and badly functioning piece of junk I've ever purchased in the last 5 years. This will be the last time I ever buy an M-Edge product.

Nice tool for ebook readers, and it also works for normal books, grace to the attaching system, that works on book covers as well. Now my husband can sleep without yelling to shut the light off :)) thank you!

Best e-luminator

I had the previous model of the eluminator and read this version was a lot brighter and distributed the light more evenly. I was skeptical until I bought one and tried it out. It actually IS a lot brighter and the light fills the screen better. The touch power "switch" is awesome. This model is exceedingly better than its predecessor. So worth paying for the upgrade.

I purchased this light in white, which looks so nice and clean!, to go with the Leisure Jacket I purchased for my Kobo e-reader. This is a powerful, easy to use light to use while reading at night. You won't be disappointed.

My Favorite Book Light

I love this book light! I had a similar one that clipped onto books, but it was hard to drag it out and clip it onto my medge Kindle cover when I needed it. It's awkward to store near my reading chair. I asked for this light as a gift and I meant for it to go with the new medge cover I got for the Kindle Touch I was also getting as a gift. Unfortunately, the Touch and I were not a good match, so I had to return it and the beautiful leather medge cover I'd gotten. I kept the light, though, because it fits into the medge cover I have on my Kindle II. The cover doesn't fit as snugly as it did before I added the light, but it still works fine. I love the touch controls and the way the light swivels. I'm grateful to other reviewers who convinced me to try this book light when I already had a usable book light, because this one is so much more convenient and it does a better job of lighting the Kindle page. I'm not sure if I'll be able to use this light on a paperback or hardback book, but I have the old light for that if I need it. I used to use my other book light only when the power went out, but I like this light so much that I use it instead of my reading lamp for more reading comfort when it gets dark.

Awesome light!

I got this for Christmas from my wife and it is awesome. I love the 3 way touch capability, and it goes perfectly with my Kindle 4 go jacket (true it is a little long, but let's be honest, I don't usually have it on the go jacket unless I'm using it at night). Overall I am very satisfied with this light!

Great, But...

This is a terrific light! One thing I'm disappointed about: I bought my M-Edge jacket first (which included the little pull-out tab advertising the light) and the light a few weeks later. I didn't realize that the light doesn't store inside the book jacket - it hangs alongside when not in use, and it gets tangled with other items in my purse. Maybe my complaint is more about the jacket (misleading) than the light.

Is NOT compatible with all M-Edge jackets

The Overview states, "This booklight features a fully adjustable steel neck for fine-tuning the light's position while the slim support arm slides into the convenient, sewn-in pocket featured in every jacket in M-Edge's product library"; however, it is NOT compatible with the Incline Jacket. I guess I will either be forced to return my e-Luminator or opt for another jacket, but I thought the Incline offered the most versatility. I'm not a fan of false advertising and this is going to cause me an unnecessary trip back to the store.

Best book light!

This is my 2nd e-luminator. When I learned they had discontinued the original I was a bit skeptical. Great surprise to learn this new one is so much better! Love the auto-shut down feature. Light is much brighter. Kudos to all!

Great Product Great Customer Service!

I purchased the previous version of this light as well as its companion cover for my Kindle Keyboard version. It worked seamlessly up until recently. As the lighting and convenience of storage, right in the case made it by far the best book light I ever owned, I was distressed when it developed an issue. I contacted customer service via email and explained the problem I was having with the light. I received a friendly response back within 24 hours. Without going into detail my situation had some mitigating circumstances of which their representative was able to resolve and as a result I was able to obtain a replacement light. I have now purchased another Kindle and needlessly to say I will be ordering this light and its companion cover for it as well as I found both the products as well as their customer service to be exceptional!

Wonderful Improvements

I've had several of the other models of this light for various covers. I hesitated to buy this one because I had one already for the cover and Kindle I am now using. However, I was never quite happy with any of these lights. I never could get them to light the whole screen and each time I used them I would have to fight to get it in the best position which still always left part of the screen unlighted. I am thrilled with this model. It is very easy to position and lights the entire screen easily. As a person who frequently falls asleep reading, I love the sleep version. I like the graphite version and just hope it will work with the new Kindle Touch covers. The battery cover is hard to work, but I am delighted with your new improvements. It was a good purchase.

Nice Light

I received this light free with a promotion and I am very pleased with it. I have not had any issues with "accidentally" leaving the light on. The only issue I did have was removing the housing for the battery. I had to wedge it open with tweezers ~ other than that it is great.

Not a great solution

Was very disappointed with this little light. The light turns on with the slightest touch, even an unintentional one, so it often turns on when I have been moving the e-book around and haven't actually meant to turn the light on. Also, it sits outside of the e-book cover and is very inconvenient and unsightly.

Love the light and being able to turn it any direction,makes it very easy to read even when there is no other lighting. If you need more light to read this is the one.

For Kindle

It works really good and I like that it has three different settings. My only complaint is that with the kindle it has a really bad glare on the screen unless you shift it just right.

The best e-reader light!

Seriously, you can't get a better light than this one. Friends have those clip on lights, and I think they are awful. Not to mention, they are easily broken or lost. I love how sturdy & flexible the light is, and how it matches the color of my kindle 3. I highly recommend this product!!

e-Luminator + Kobo Touch

I bought a Go! Jacket for my Kobo Touch and then subsequently bought the e-Luminator light to go with it. I was very disappointed to see that the light is longer than the jacket and is therefore likely to get damaged when not in use. For an expensive combination of products, I expected a perfect fit. However, each item on its own is of a high standard finish, its just a shame that the finished combination isnt of a more suitable fit for the Kobo Touch

Great light

I use this light for my Kindle Touch in a case from another manufacturer and it works great. The light slips in between the Kindle and the case. I have no problem with glare as the light is fully adjustable. I haven't yet had the problem with accidentally pushing the light on by storing it with the Kindle case, but probably it would have been better to have an on off switch than the touch feature. I like that the light has three light levels for the amount of light needed as I need only the lowest setting in a dim room. I would recommend this light as it is very versatile and fully adjustable.

Enlightening...

I got 4 of these lights to go with the 4 covers I bought for the whole fam damily. The 3 gifts were much appreciated. Personally, I'm really glad this light is so adjustable, as I prefer to have it shine from the bottom of the page up, rather than top down. Keeps the spot glare off the screen and doesn't shine on the light-colored (and light-catching) Amazon-kindle logo at the top of my K3. However, I'm glad I don't drag my Kindle around much, as the light hanging out of the right side of the case isn't an ideal situation. You lose one star for that. Also, one would do well to get 12 hours out of a battery at high-intensity, at that point it wasn't totally dead, but it was too dim to read by, and there was darn little difference between the 3 levels of light on a low battery. Switching out the battery was super easy. All in all, this is my favorite light I've used so far with my Kindle. Solve the placement problem and you'll earn that penultimate star.

Great Accessory

I love this light! It makes such a difference when reading at night and a wonderful thing to have when flying at night. You can read and not disturb anyone else. Works well with the Executive Cover for Kindle.

Great little light. 3 different settings, lowest is more than enough to read in bed without annoying my spouse. Lightweight fits great in the case.

Better than the original

This version of the eLuminator is better than the original in many ways, with one exception... PROS: Better touch-sensitive light control. Easier to fold for storage. CON: The flexible arm is shorter than the previous version and is not as easy to position. Please note that this is a minor complaint.

Battery Cover needs to be re-designed

I just received this light and it seems fine, gives off enough light and it fits perfectly in my EDGE-EXECUTIVE Cover. One complaint, the battery cover is very difficult to get off...I am a big guy and I was struggling with this thing. I was afraid I was going to brake it. Finally, i stuck a piece of tape to the cover and pulled it off that way. otherwise, a nice product.

Only 1 small complaint

When folded, the light is longer than the new Kindle Touch so it sticks out the bottom of the case. I'm afraid it might get damaged if I'm not careful. Other than that, I'm very happy with it.

Love it

I've always read with a flashlight at night before bed. After getting my kindle I decided that was getting old and I needed a book light. This fits perfectly on my M-Edge cover and is nice and bright!

Light with case is great!

Bought M-Edge case earlier for my Kindle & wanted light but every other light clipped on. So when bought case for world traveler friend I bought both of us lights. Love the 3 brightness settings and how it fits inside the case when closed. Positioning it can sometimes be a little annoying but not enough to toss it.

E-laminator light

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He is very happy with it but thought it should come with the AAA battery as the cost would be minimal but the buy and go concept would go a long way towards customer service. Siaid he liked the multiple light levels.

Best Booklight I've Used

5 Stars all the way! This is most definitely the best and most versatile booklight I have used. One of the things I like best about it is that it fits into my M-Edge cover for my Nook and nestles in the side without interfering with my reading. It is always there and I don't have to go look for it when I need it. It takes AA batteries -- which is another plus because they are easily bought at any local store.

Satisfied

Positive Points +Light weight +Many adjustable settings to get the angle just the way you want it. Flexible neck is excellent +Takes AAA batteries so you have the option of using rechargeable batteries +Lighting in pitch black settings work great. The light is not too concentrated in one spot but is spread out evenly to cover the whole reading area. You will be using the medium and high settings. The low setting is unnecessary as it is too dim for any situation. Negative Points -Most annoying feature is the battery cover is extremely difficult to remove. I was afraid I was going to break the entire thing just trying to get it off because the whole thing is made of very light weight plastic. Gladly I didn't break it. TIP: For easier removal, you can use something like a knife or thin nail filer to wedge in between the cover and the body to help slide it off. Insert the wedge on the part closest to the light. Do not try to pry off the lid, just try to slide it off using the wedge. This worked very well for me -The paper clip feature only works well for cases designed for it. You won't really be able to use your light on the ereader itself, so you absolutely need to have a thin case of some sort. Most other ereader lights don't require a case -Paper clip should be designed in such a way that it will not make wrinkles on paper -May easily turn on by itself when placed in a bag while travelling due to the touch feature -Would be nice if the paper clip could fold inwards for less bulky storage/travel

liked the last gen better

while this battery compartment is better (last one fell off & lost a piece) the gooseneck is shorter & it is hard to get good coverage on the kindle page. The previous model fit nicely down the side -this one either hangs out below or lays accross the top. What I really need is a new battery screw on for my old one!

Perfect

In my opinion this is the perfect light to accompany my Kindle. I love that it stores in the spine of my Kindle cover (also a M-Edge product). It is always where I need it when I need it. It is a product that I would recommend to everyone.

Met Expectations - better than other options

Works well. I like the covers M-Edge covers better than any others available in their price range. Great to have light feature that sits in the cover during storage & use. When storing the light is not ideal. The neck of the light hangs past the length of the Kindle Touch. It definitely creates more opportunity to break and not fit well for travel. Need to offer a re-designed light for the smaller Kindle products.

Good Little Light

I really have enjoyed my light, but would prefer the on/off to be a switch or something more obvious. It takes me a few touches to get it turned off and it accidentally turns on at times. Other than that, I'm very pleased with the size, amount of light, sleekness, etc.

Good light

I have no complaints about the utility of the M-edge light. I like the design, the 'storability' of the light with my Kindle Keyboard jacket, and it works well to illuminate my book when riding in a dark car without distracting the driver. The touch on/off works well, and I like the fact that it automatically shuts off if I forget.

Eluminator

Excellent light. One issue is that it is hard to adjust where the light shines and have it stay. The flexible neck is either not rigid enough or too short. Also the swivel point seems like a potential break point. I hope it will loosen up.

What an improvement!

Had your previous light and liked it but always wished it were brighter and could turn itself off before draining batter and bulb life. It was like you heard me wishing!! I bought the new model for both myself and my best friend. LOVE IT!!!!

little but mighty

I love this little light. It tucks securly and safely into my leisure case back pocket so I always have it. And the goose neck puts the beam where I want it. I bought one for my sister when I gave her a leisure case.

great company, great light (so far!)

Five stars for the booklight, and also five (six! seven! ten!) stars for customer service. Like some of the other reviewers, I had a problem with an earlier version of this booklight (the one with the switch), and it was replaced free of charge, no questions asked. When the replacement also died -- six months after I had purchased the original light -- customer service sent me the new model within a day of receiving my complaint. This was an overseas order, and I paid no shipping fees. I've only had the new booklight for a day, but since the problem with the old model seemed to be a problem either with the switch or the battery compartment, and both of these have been modified in the updated version, I don't expect to have any more problems. The light seems really solidly built.

E-Book Light

What a great little gizmo! It is very easy to use, stays where you put it, even if you are laying on your side on the couch while reading, and the light covers the whole page of my 3rd generation Kindle. The three intensities are useful to minimze battery drain when high intensity is not needed. I am very pleased.

Kindle cover and light

These were absolutely perfect! Some people have said they would get a kindle just so they could get the M-edge cover, (prodigy jacket for kindle in RED! it's so beautiful. This cover also allows room for the little light, which I actually use and it works perfectly. My husband can sleep while I read..

e-Luminator book light

I have a 2nd gen. Kindle M-Edge cover that hinges on the top. I LOVE it (except it is bit heavy), I have had the previous M-Edge book light made to fit it (sliding in from the side), which I loved. Did not have a problem with the white color which was mentioned by another. It died of unknown causes, (a broken wire in the neck, I am thinking)after LOTS of use. I now own the new model in graphite, which is great. It fits in the cover when not in use, and I don't notice the weight at all. I like how it hinges, much improved over 1st design, and had a problem opening the battery cover only the first time. Batteries last well. I am having a problem accidentally turning on the light when not in use, as noted by another reviewer. Wish the touch pad was on the opposite side ( near the bulb), then it wouldn't be bumped accidentally....designers take note! The 3 light levels are great, but I only use the first one, until the battery starts getting low, then use the second brightest level which is plenty of light until battery is dead. The brightest light is way more than I ever need. Over all, great product and design. If the cover were a bit lighter, M-Edge would have the PERFECT Kindle cover/booklight combo imagineable!

Love this little light

I ordered this light to go with my m-edge executive kindle cover. I like it a lot; it gives full coverage on the reading material and is so handy to store in the cover. I also bought the same kind of cover and this light for my daughter-in-law. She loves it as much as I do. I would highly recommend it.

Better in the important respects

I like it better than model 2. I didn't have any trouble positioning it any way I needed. The adjustable base of the stem compensates for the shorter flexible part, and I can position it better than model 2. The light is brighter. The level 1 light is OK when you have other ambient light and just need a little extra light. I agree with others that the battery cover is hard to remove. The touch switch is very touch-sensitive, lending an aura of quality. I like the switch better than the cheap-feeling switch of model 2, which was hard to turn off from the high position, without moving the switch all the way to the low position. Why would thay make a switch which has the off position in the middle, between two on-positions??

Great light to go with my great kindle cover!

I bought the eluminator to use with my kindle and the M-Edge cover. They fit together perfectly, and look great. The light has three light settings, a flexible to neck and easy touch control. Love both M-Edge products (and the kindle).

My husband bought the M-Edge cover for me as a gift. I ordered the light a couple of days later. I am a really early riser, so no more need to turn on the bedside lamp in the wee hours and disturbing my sleeping spouse. I love it so much that I bought a cover and a light for him for Father's Day. Now we look like a couple of old nerds reading in bed with our Kindles and our nightlights. It's great!

I had no problem at all with the previous version of the light...except the white color which I did not like at all. I use a Kindle - next gen in the graphite color and a "Capital Jacket" in black and was literally about to go buy some model paint in grey to paint the light, but then this version was announced with a graphite cover and all the new improvements so I anxiously awaited. The color is great...everything is is just OK. First, it is a HUGE struggle to get the battery cover off. I mean like over ten minutes of struggling with it. If you have any hand problem (like arthrites or anything) forget it. There was nothing at all wrong with the screw cover in the last version. Secondly, three light settings, well, OK, but Setting One is so dim there isn't any lighting condition in which I can using it. Setting Two, is still too low for my taste, and Setting Three is so bright I practically need sunglasses with it. Again the two light settings on the previous version were PERFECT brightness. AND that used a switch, this touch sensor turns the light on with barely a pass so I'm constantly cycling through to turn it off. Lastly the "gooseneck" is shorter, there ARE less positions one can aim the light in. I still have the first version....I may yet find that model paint and use it instead

The light is fine. My only complaint is how it attaches to the cover. If you place cover with light attached in your bag it will get bumped and/or accidentially turned on.

Absolutely the Best!

This light could not be more perfect if it tried. The light has three levels so you get just the right amount of light with the touch of a finger. The touch control makes it very easy to adjust the level of light, turn it on or turn it off. The flexible arm allows you to aim the light where you get full page coverage with no shadows and hence no eye strain. The light fits into the cover at the side and I use it with the M-Edge cover for my Kindle but also with a generic cover for my Kobo. Best light you will ever buy!

Light for Kindle

Wonderful light....What a difference!

Really happy with this light. Love how it slips into the hidden pocket in the GO! case. Took a little playing to find the right spot so that I didn't get a reflection on the screen. Love the fact that it turns off after I've fallen asleep reading. Well built arm on the light...stays where it should. Probably only complaint is it's slightly longer then the case, but being that's my only complaint I can't see lower the star count. I would highly suggest the light/cover combination to anyone as it has worked well for me. One other thing I might suggest would be a velcro piece to hold the cover's face to the back while reading.....But I added one of m own to do that.

Almost Perfect Light

I like this light and would recommend it to anyone with a Kindle Touch who uses a compatible case. It's bright enough so that I can read easily; the touch control works well (too well, in some cases); it fits snugly in the case; it uses a single AAA battery so weight is not a real issue at all; it just works and works very well. That being said, I do have some suggestions for design changes — these would make a great light even better: • The battery cover seems fragile and is a bit difficult to remove. I'm using a lithium AAA battery, so I don't anticipate having to change it often. • The touch control works too well. Several times I've accidentally turned it on just when handling the Kindle with the light folded down and attached to the case — picking it up, putting it in my computer case, etc. Fortunately, I'm left-handed so I don't turn it on/off while reading. If the case were redesigned so that the light attached in the "spine" of the cover rather than the outside edge, that would solve the problem when I pick up/handle the case but I would probably turn it on/off while reading. • I wish the neck would bend and stay in place at a slightly tighter angle. It works well as it is but would be better if it would stay in place a little tighter.

I love this accessory. I can read in near darkness and the easy to change battery is a plus for me. It goes with me everywhere my Kindle goes.

What a great reading light.

I had previously bought the prior style light and decided that since I was changing covers for my Kindle to get this new light. It fits so perfect in my cover and with the one touch and three intensities of light no matter where you are you will get a perfect amount of ligh. M-edge touch booklight

I have only used it once and it works fine. I have 2 m-edge New Yorker cases and the light goes on the outside edge so it has to be removed after each use? If I had another style of case I believe that it could slide into the case for storage. It is a very nice product.

Took it on the plane. Loved it on the train. Outstanding in the car (passenger of course!!). Poolside (haven't done the beach yet) you were right - - no glare. Excellent. And I very much enjoy bedtime reading. My M-Edge is a MUST. I tuck mine along the edge of my M-Edge Kindle cover and it works fine. The light does get turned on easily - but i just keep watch. Fact that the light on high is bright - i can see if on in the pocket of my briefcase. Outstanding product.

You've seen all those bookstore booklights? They're crude compared to this light and not designed for the non-illuminated kindle and other readers. This design is elegant and high performance with a capacitive "touch" switch that cycles through three levels of illumination and then off. Perfect Companion to M-Edge cases!

Great complement to the M-Edge line of cases. However, the ,mechanism which allows you to adjust the light wears down and after a while it does not lock in place. This is my second e-Luminator and it looks like it is going down that road again; If this were resolved, I would give it a 5 star rating! Otherwise a great product.

e-Luminator Touch Booklight Graphite shipped FedEx Smart Post on 2/25/13. Twenty-one days later, 2/18/13, I'm still waiting for it to arrive. Notified customer service on 3/15/13 and the reply was that if it has not arrived in 30 days another would be shipped! USPS would have had it here in a week! DO NOT have products shipped this way if you want your product in a reasonable period of time.

Very good for M-Edge case

I've owned 3 of M-Edge's lights now. The one I've just received is still in it's packaging as I am already using an identical one. The fact is the first M-Edge light I owned (which was an older design) did fail after about a year. I purchased one of these as a replacement & it has operated perfectly for a couple years already,so I'm very happy with it.

The light's coverage is quite small, I wish I knew how to enlarge the space on the face of my Kendle so it would light up the entire page.

e-Luminator booklight is handy

I like the booklight as it's lightweight with different brightness settings. I did not realise how much I needed the booklight until I started using it! My only concern is that the support arm does not feel sturdy and it feels like it could break off easily but it's working well so far.

improved from older models

I had a previous incarnation of the e-Luminator that was "flimsy-er." The clip part of it broke fairly soon after I bought it and I have had it duct-taped since in order to use it. The newer e-Luminator has a bit of a more sturdy clip. The older e-L had a longer gooseneck that was sometimes hard to point exactly where you wanted the light to focus. The newer model has a shorter gooseneck so directing light where you want it is much easier. Two "issues" with the first design remain: This light is really only meant to be used with the case because the clip, though improved, is still flimsy. It's not something you want to handle a lot because it still seems as though it might snap (break) easily. Best to place the clip in the case and leave it there (rather than trying to use it for book reading or other purposes). The second issue is the battery case. It's hard to open. Better than having a battery case that does not stay closed. But it's too snug to manage easily when replacing batteries. Battery life seems reasonable so it's not like you have to open the battery case too often.

Once I figured out how to put it into the slot (because it has a "paper clip" type design, I thought part of it went in the slot and part on the back of the case), I was quite happy with it-particularly the choices in light intensity and being able to adjust how the light was directed. I wish it had its own case as I worried it would break in my luggage. I solved this by saving the packaging it came in and using that.

Provides enough light for easy night reading. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is that if the light is angled so you can see the lightbulb itself, it tends to distract you from what you're reading.

I would never have tried a booklight, but this little item came as a gift with my MEdge order. My husband uses it more than I do, and he really likes it. Cannot get it open to insert battery

This is the third light I have ordered. The first two were great but I can not get this one open to insert battery. Not much use to me if I can't use it.

Really Handy

The booklight is a nice extra for the kindle. I think you need a cover for the kindle to use it as it slides into the actual jacket. It does fit in well, is secure and is easily positionable to ensure the light illumates what you need. It lights up the text well and i often use it instead of the room light. It has 3 light settings and the on/ off is touch sensative and so easy to control. When not in use in just folds down by the side of the kindle so doesn't look stupid if you're not using it. Good product and worth buying

Not Practical

I honestly got this light as a freebie from M-Edge when buying my Kindle cover, but it's not very useful. The slot for the light is on the side of the cover rather than the top, so it's awkward to use. The illumination is also shadowy and difficult to read by.

Bright light for such a small piece!

Never thought this would come in handy since I never used additional lighting before. Came into use when lighting was low.

Small, bright light, takes one standard size battery (not included). Bendable arm for angling the light just the way you need it. It doesn't get 5 stars because the directions are a little hard to understand and not helpful, and I am still trying to figure out where or how to clip the light best onto a silicone skin.

I really like this booklight. Just one complaint - the adjustable neck isn't long enough. Love that it's adjustable, and the "touch" to turn on/off is great, but the neck isn't long enough and creates a glare on the Kindle page, due to where I have to position it so it illuminates the whole page.

I was wondering how this could be used with the Silicone Skins - The instructions were quite clear and I have been reading in bed at night without disturbing my husband. There is absolutely no glare if positioned correctly.

The light is super sensitive so you need to make sure you don't bump it on by accident. Also it doesn't come with a battery nor is that stated so it took a while to figure out why the light wasn't working..in my defense i must say that all my other reader lights came w/battery.

Easy to Use, Lights EXTIRE PAGE

This is so much better than previous lighting options I have tried. I like to read in bed next to my husband and he doesn't complain about it being any brighter than previous lights I have tried, but I notice a huge difference. I can finally clearly see the entire page at once!

I own 3!

I first purchased two of these lights at Walmart for a trip to NYC when we would need lights on the tour bus. We love them. My mother received a kindle for Christmas so I immediately sought out another for her. They slip in nicely between the kindle and case and curve around the top of the kindle for storage. The battery lasts a long time. It also works well with a regular book.

WHAT A GREAT IDEA!

This is an amazingly bright tiny light that is perfect for reading when you need a little more light right on your book or Kindle. It "taps" on with I think two (might be three) different levels of brightness so you can choose the amount of light that suits you. Nice fit in cover

Could be brighter but fits nicely in the cover. The battery lid is really hard to remove for battery replacement. However, it was free so I shouldn't complain at all!!

I wasn't sure what to expect with the light, but was pleasantly surprised to find out it was touch-controlled and had several levels of brightness. Pretty neat.

I use this with my kindle touch and it is great! Fits right into the executive jacket and is not in the way at all. A good product.

perfect with a medge case

The e-Luminator book light works perfectly with the medge cases. On a friends recommendation, I bought the booklight together with a case for my first kindle, and i've been a believer ever since! Be aware that this booklight can go through batteries if you're a heavy user, but I use rechargable batteries and it's fine. Generally, I find this booklight uses less battery power than other lights I've used.

Just Right

I have purchased these lamps in the past as gifts and one for myself. The are easy to adjust for the Kindle Custom Jackets; providing the perfect amount of light for reading. In a previous order the light I gave as a gift not only does he use it for his Kindle; but slips it out of the jacket and uses for his mini computer.

Bummed

Wish they hadn't shortened the flexible "neck" of the light... It works ok, but longer like the style I received earlier this year would be nicer...

Great little light.

This light does the job perfectly! I like that I can adjust the intensity level as my eyes get accustomed to the different ambient light. Having a single AAA battery powering it means replacements are readily available. It doesn't add too much weight and love how it fits in my Medge covers. Best of all is that it light up the kindle page evenly and without hot spots. I've tried a few other styles of lights from other manufacturers and this one is the best!

Kindle 2nd generation does not come with light and this one fits perfect with my M-Edge jacket.
